All EA-10000 series models feature active power factor correction, typically 0.99, to minimize the power drawn from the power grid.

In addition, the EA-PSB bidirectional power supplies and EA-ELR electronic loads offer regenerative circuitry that feeds energy back into the grid with efficiencies greater than 96%. These regenerative circuits save operating costs and the cost of cooling that would be required to dissipate the heat in a conventional electronic load.

With autoranging and integrated function generator
True autoranging
All 10000 series devices offer true autoranging capabilities. Autoranging allows the device to deliver a higher voltage at lower currents and a higher current at lower voltages than a power supply or load with a conventional square wave output/input characteristic.
Power supplies and loads with autoranging provide users with a wider range of voltages and currents without having to oversize the devices. Benefits: For use in a variety of test applications, a single device provides a wider range of test applications and versatility.

Integrated function generator with arbitrary function
The EA-PSI, EA-PSB and EA-ELR power supplies have an integrated function generator with arbitrary function. This makes it possible to generate complex signals depending on a DC bias voltage, as well as to simulate characteristics, for example of solar cells, batteries and fuel cells. Special functions enable maximum power point tracking (MPPT). EN 50530 is used for testing solar panel inverters as well as LV123, LV124 and LV148 standards-based test sequences for testing automotive components and systems. Built-in features simplify programming of 10000 instruments for simulations and creation of output sequences or input sequences to meet key test standards.

Parallel connection for high power systems up to 1.92 MW
Up to 64 EA-10000 series power supplies and loads can be connected in parallel via the master-auxiliary bus. The system can consist of any combination of units of different power classes within the same EA-XXX family (EA-PSB, EA-PSI, EA-ELR etc.). A galvanically isolated share-bus interface in each device also provides safety by allowing the devices to safely share load requirements so that the entire rack can operate at full dynamic range.
